Created by the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon in 2002, Rendez-vous, an international platform for young creative artists with funding from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, unique in France, involves the combined energies of four separate institutions : the Biennale de Lyon, the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, the IAC, and the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon. Artistic direction of the event is shared by all four.

During the Biennale de Lyon, Rendez-vous is exhibited at the IAC and the following year outside of Europe. This is why Rendez-vous was presented in Shanghai (2010); in Cape Town (2012); in Singapore (2015); in Beijing (2017); in Cuba (2018).
