Jean-Baptiste Perret was born in 1984 in Montbrison (Loire) and now lives in Lyon. After studying ecology in a scientific framework, he worked for several years in environmental protection within local authorities. In 2018, he graduated from the Beaux-Arts of Lyon and has since pursued his interest in rural environments through a cinematic practice that takes the form of films and video installations. His work revolves around the theme of care, which he views as an attention to vulnerability, inseparable from the regenerative power of individuals. His approach is rooted in documentary research, employing methods derived from anthropology to question the criteria of objectivity, thereby placing emotion at the very heart of his research process.

During his residency with Charlieu-Belmont Communauté, Jean-Baptiste Perret explores the territory by meeting residents, discovering practices, and uncovering situations that will directly or indirectly lead to new film productions. This research will follow an investigative approach (searching for clues, emotions, and symptoms) along three main themes that the artist holds dear. The first theme focuses on agricultural practices, particularly the relationship with animals. The second examines alternative care practices that he may encounter in the area. Lastly, the third theme explores the religious communities present in the vicinity. The goal is to establish connections with one or more groups of residents who can become central to Jean-Baptiste Perret's residency.

Two workshops are being organized: one with students from the cinema section at Lycée Jean de la Rue and another at the agricultural high school of Ressins.
