These sessions are developed in partnership with the visual arts educational advisors of the Rhône Academic Directorate for primary education and the teacher-relays from the Lyon and Grenoble Rectorates for secondary education. They serve as valuable opportunities for meetings, exchanges, and reflections.

Specific Guided Exhibition Visits

To help prepare for their visit with students, primary and secondary teachers are invited to attend a specific guided tour of each exhibition at the Institute.
This tour, which requires registration, includes the provision of a pedagogical document. This document offers educational approaches to the exhibition tailored to various cycles and grade levels. Aligned with the National Education curriculum, it provides a selection of concepts and terms, recommended pathways, and suggestions for classroom follow-up work. It serves as a resource contributing to the reflection on teaching Art History.

Engagement with a Local Cultural Institution

Pedagogical Workshops/Departmental Actions
For primary school teachers

These workshops aim to familiarize teachers with the functioning and role of the Institute and to raise awareness of its value as a resource for learning.
Beginning with an introduction to the venue, followed by a dual-perspective tour (pedagogical and cultural) of the exhibition, and concluding with an in-depth discussion, several key questions are addressed: Why bring students? How to prepare, experience, and utilize a visit to the IAC? How to identify and develop a teaching project with students?

Training Workshops

As part of the Academic Training Plan for secondary school teachers

To assist teachers in discovering contemporary art and developing pedagogical projects related to teaching, the Public Programs team at the Institute of Contemporary Art offers annual training workshops. These are designed in collaboration with pedagogical partners (teacher-relays and academic inspectors). These training sessions provide valuable opportunities for meetings, exchanges, and reflections, updating teachers’ knowledge of contemporary art actors (artists, institutions) and the significance of exhibitions.
