1943 - 2026
We all learned with deep emotion the death of Georges Verney-Carron
He was one of the unshakable pillars of the Institut d'art contemporain / Frac Rhône-Alpes.
In 1978, alongside Jean-Louis Maubant, he participated in the creation of the Nouveau Musée. Since then, and for nearly forty-eight years, Georges has never ceased to be at the heart of our history, our struggles and our commitments.
During all these years, he tirelessly supported us, encouraged us to innovate and accompanied us in our desire to progress. Deeply attached to artists he worked tirelessly to decompartmentalize the disciplines. Fervent defender of art, design and architecture, he has constantly worked for their recognition and development, both within our institution and at the level of the Métropole de Lyon.
Georges was a friend, a faithful, a man of heart and conviction. We are deeply indebted to him for the influence that our institution is experiencing today, to which he has contributed so much through his commitment, vision and generosity.
We will deeply miss his creative intelligence, his enthusiasm and his entrepreneurial joy.
We will keep from him this energy, this curiosity and this always renewed desire to move forward. They will inspire us to continue, with the IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes, our quest for excellence.
Our most affectionate thoughts turn to his family, children and loved ones. We share their sorrow at the loss of someone so passionate, bold and visionary.
To Georges, our deep gratitude,
