Trespassing, 11/04/2025 to 20/06/2025, La Halle Jean Gattégno, Centre d'art de Pont-en-Royans, Pont-en-Royans, France

Transition, movement or displacement, the exhibition explores the theme of circulations, passages and diasporas through a renewed and unexpected perspective. The prism adopted is that of the representation of nature, through works that offer images of varied landscapes, cartographies and topographies, or natural phenomena... The guest artists manipulate these elements, sometimes invoking contemplation, sometimes a brutal force, but also the possibility of a dreamed flight or a fantasized trajectory. These are all symbols of stories, memories and emotions linked to the wanderings (forced or chosen) that punctuate the journey through our rooms.

The English title, Trespassing, was chosen for its evocative assonance and the universality of this language in the age of the global village. The word has a Latin root that alludes to a crossing. However, its modern meaning reverses its etymological meaning: it is a term that prohibits, imposes a limit, a barrier that blocks any passage or overtaking.

This ambivalence resonates in the works presented, suspended between an aesthetic that is sometimes fragile, sometimes immersive and captivating, and a powerful, determined symbolism. The works presented can evoke travel, exile, nostalgia as well as rootedness. Offering a variety of proposals and generations of artists, Trespassing invites us to focus our attention, obliquely and allusively - without being simplistic - on subjects central to our present-day societies.
