Les Rocailleuses

Laurine Habert, Galeries Nomades 2025

“After treading this land, traversing this time, and sharing with these women—all of them farmers—one thing unites them all. A strength that drives them, no matter where it originates, binding them intimately and deeply to one another, to the earth, and to all living things.

Lozère, whether as a land of origin or adoption, rural and isolated, is where the rivers that flow through it begin—the place where they tread the soil, work it, tame it, heal it, and respect it. The harshness that surrounds them puts them to the test, challenging their endurance. Through their voices—both rough and woolly—they act, with a certain urgency, in a time sometimes distorted by its slower, more exhausting, and profoundly different rhythm. Silenced stories and bodies, hidden and erased memories.”
Since 2007, every two years, the Galeries Nomades program, supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, has offered artists from the region’s five art schools (Annecy, Clermont-Ferrand, Grenoble/Valence, Lyon, and Saint-Étienne) guidance in the production of their works and the organization of their first solo exhibition, in partnership with creative and cultural venues across the region.

In 2025, Galeries Nomades will unfold across the Savoie Mont Blanc territory, at the Maison forte de Hautetour in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and at CURIOX, the art and meeting center in Ugine—both members of the Réseau Altitudes, a network dedicated to contemporary art in alpine settings.
