Tatouages en Méditerranée (Tattoos in the Mediterranean), 17/05/2025 to 28/09/2025, Centre de la Vieille Charité, Marseille, France

The Museums of Marseille are offering an in-depth investigation of tattooing practices in the Mediterranean, from Antiquity to the present day.

Paintings, sculptures, photographs, video, fashion and everyday objects will punctuate the visitor's itinerary, combining the scientific contributions of history, art history, archaeology, ethnology and anthropology, as well as Marseilles' variations on tattooing today and its place in the pop imagination.

Created specifically for this exhibition, you'll discover an original monumental work by Algerian artist Denis Martinez.
This exhibition is proposed in partnership with Milan's Museo delle Culture (Mudec), and will benefit from numerous loans from national and international institutions, in dialogue with the heritage collections held by the Marseille Museum network (Musée du Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Egyptian Museum of Turin, etc.).
