A pioneering institution, the IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes has, since 1978, presented hundreds of exhibitions by internationally renowned artists, built one of France’s leading contemporary art collections, fostered countless encounters with key figures in contemporary art, and worked to make contemporary art accessible to the widest possible audience.

IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes at a Glance

→ As both a Frac (Regional Contemporary Art Collection) and an art centre, the IAC offers 1,200 m² of flexible spaces dedicated to exhibitions, residencies, and production, supporting contemporary creation while promoting a collection of more than 2,000 artworks.

→ Committed to discovering and supporting contemporary artistic practices, the IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes curated the first exhibitions in France of artists now internationally acclaimed, including Daniel Buren, Anish Kapoor, Gerhard Richter, Jeff Wall, Pierre Huyghe, Ann Veronica Janssens, Tarek Atoui, and Josèfa Ntjam.

→ An associated program, as well as a mediation program complement the exhibitions, offering opportunities for the visitors to extend the themes explored in the exhibition spaces through guided tours, workshops, performances, and film screenings.
→ The IAC also develops projects beyond its walls through a network of educational and cultural partners. Each year, loans from the IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes collection contribute to its visibility throughout France and internationally.

Support a venue dedicated to Contemporary Creation

Since its founding, the IAC / Frac Rhône-Alpes has relied on the commitment of patrons, partners, and Friends who help strengthen its regional, national, and international impact.

This momentum continues through the Fondation IAC - founded in 2016 by Jean-Patrice Bernard, Jacques Caton, Michel Jolivet, Yves Manet and Marie-Ève Poly uunder the auspices of the Fondation Bullukian and recognised as serving the public interest - as well as through the Friends of the IAC association, both of which support artistic creation, artwork production, and the enrichment of the collection.
